Dear Brother Knights and All Catholic Gentlemen,

My name is Joe DiFusco, Grand Knight of COUNCIL #11071 at Immaculate Conception, and I am writing to let you know that our council is facing a real crisis. We are in danger of becoming non-existent as a Catholic Fraternity due to the lack of interest and active participation by our current members and all those Catholic gentlemen that could become active members and help COUNCIL #11071 to be the positive influence it has always been since it’s beginning and allow this council the ability to do all the wonderful works and deeds the Knights are famous for. Our present active membership consists mostly of older gentlemen like myself. We thank God that we still have some younger members that shoulder a great deal of the responsibility in seeing that our commitments to God, church and community continue to bear much fruit. The Knights are known throughout the world for their many works of charity and is the largest catholic fraternity in the United States with 1.6 million members. Our local Knights also help to keep our parish and community involved with each other by sponsoring our bi-monthly breakfasts, annual parish picnic, Light-Up for Christ celebration, Right to Life Park, March for Life, highway clean-up and donations to many church and community needs.

In order to keep all these events ongoing, we need more active participation from our current members, and at the same time we extend a heartfelt welcome to any and all new members. We don't expect our members to be at every meeting or event - if you show up once a year or once every three months that would be a big help. On Tuesday night December 2nd at 7pm, we will host our annual Light-Up for Christ celebration at the Right to Life Park followed by refreshments in the church hall - please come for a great time - and ask any questions you may have about the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS. The faith of your local KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS is in your hands, lets all vow to keep this wonderful organization going for another 125 years - we are going on our 126th year. Please let’s not make Fr. Michael J. McGivney’s dream fade away - support your local Knights.

I would, as Grand Knight, like to take this opportunity to thank our present members that give so much of themselves to keep our council active. Thank you and a heartfelt appreciation for all that you do - Bob Medvetz, Jim Downey, Bernie LaCroix, Rich Dickinson, Dave Begin, Robert Rios, Mike Bromm, Larry Mango, Jules Coleman, Peter Coon, Richard Ferrannini, Joe Trembley, Don Bradley, Gene Vogt, not to mention Fr Jim, and anyone that I may have overlooked - and, of course, all the ladies and gentlemen that help at all our events. (I would like to see a Ladies Auxiliary of Columbiette’s here at Immaculate Conception, if anyone out there is interested please let us know). The KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS is thriving throughout the rest of the United States and New York, it’s only this area that seems to be suffering from a lack of interest, let’s change that.

We have a business meeting the second Wednesday of the month and a social meeting on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Our First Degree initiation takes place on the last Saturday of the month. If you are interested in joining, please contact any Knight or leave your name & number at the back of the church or the Rectory.
